Senior Advisor (Civil Engineer)

About the Organization

The Embassy of Iceland is seeking a motivated and experienced Civil Engineer for the position of Senior Advisor to support the delivery of development projects and programmes in Uganda. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all genders and backgrounds.

Role Overview

This position involves technical supervision and verification of construction and rehabilitation projects, with a focus on education and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) infrastructure under the Embassy's district development programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical supervision and verification of construction and rehabilitation of education and WASH infrastructure
• Plan, procure, implement, and monitor construction projects in close collaboration with district technical staff
• Ensure project quality, efficiency, and adherence to standards
• Develop and implement long-term maintenance strategies for infrastructure

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• Registration with the Uganda Engineers Registration Board (ERB) (mandatory)
• Valid driver's licence
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering

Required Experience

• Project planning and procurement
• Construction project implementation
• Contract management
• Project monitoring
• Experience in government and donor-funded settings preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
