Loan Officer

Job Overview

On behalf of our client, a Microfinance Company in Dar es Salaam, we are recruiting an experienced Loan Officer to join their team. This role represents an excellent career development opportunity.

The Loan Officer will be responsible for growing the client loan portfolio (salaried workers' loans), attracting new customers, and maintaining relationships with existing customers. The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of microfinance operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to grow the loan portfolio in line with company targets
• Achieve monthly and quarterly growth targets for customer base and loan disbursements
• Conduct initial client assessments and pre-screening to ensure eligibility and alignment with lending criteria
• Represent the company in product awareness sessions to enhance visibility
• Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and ensure timely follow-up for loan repayments and renewals
• Gather and act upon customer feedback to improve service delivery
• Maintain accurate records of client details and financial transactions
• Conduct periodic reconciliations to ensure accuracy and maintain an effective filing system
• Prepare accurate and timely reports (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual)
• Build and maintain a high-quality loan portfolio with minimal default rates

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Banking and Finance, Microfinance, or a related field
• 2–3 years of experience in a similar role
• Strong understanding of microfinance products and processes
• Proficiency in microfinance software and MS Office suite (Excel and Word)
