8 Background The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat has opened a new recruitment opportunity for qualified, competent, and experienced Tanzanian professionals to serve in regional positions within the Secretariat. As a key institution supporting regional integration, development cooperation, food security, agriculture, governance, and socio-economic progress across Southern Africa, the SADC Secretariat plays a central role in advancing shared priorities among Member States. This recruitment round is significant because it gives Tanzanian professionals the opportunity to contribute directly to regional development through specialized technical roles in food security, agriculture, and crop programming. A total of 2 regional positions are included in this vacancy announcement, with placement within the SADC Secretariat. Applications are coordinated through the President’s Office, Public Service Management and Good Governance in Dodoma, Tanzania. Job Grade This position falls under Job Grade 4. Contract/Employment Type Fixed-term contract for four (4) years, renewable twice for an equal period. Tenure Conditions Renewal is subject to satisfactory completion of six (6) months’ probation period, satisfactory performance, attainment of the mandatory retirement age of 60 years, and the continued need for the position. Eligibility Applicants should carefully note the eligibility requirements provided in the vacancy announcement. Age Limit The positions are open to qualified applicants aged 52 years or below. This requirement is intended to ensure that successful candidates are able to serve the organization for a reasonable period before reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.
