General Manager Position

Position Overview

We're seeking a hands-on, passionate, and experienced General Manager to lead our team in Paarden Eiland, Cape Town. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a genuine passion for food, coffee, and creating exceptional customer experiences, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of our menu, including tapas, mains, drinks, cocktails, smoothies, and more
• Apply Level 3 barista and bar training expertise – milk foaming, shot pulling, and slip management
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of our brand's story and ethically sourced beans and products
• Oversee kitchen operations and prepare all recipes using our recipe book
• Manage all ordering – from daily bread and cakes to fresh produce and bar/kitchen stock
• Track stock movement and pricing; identify variances in quality, quantity, or cost
• Use GAAP for daily cash-ups, invoice capture, stock-takes, and reporting (labour and stock movement)
• Lead floor operations and ensure smooth daily service
• Delegate or step into any role when needed due to short staffing or emergencies
• Manage rosters, monitor labour versus turnover, and control the weekly wage bill
• Handle customer interactions and feedback; build loyalty with regular patrons
• Maintain a confident, professional presence and lead by example

Requirements

• 2–3+ years of experience in a similar hospitality management role
• Strong understanding of front- and back-of-house operations
• Knowledge of GAAP or similar POS/back-office systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to perform under pressure and multitask effectively
• Strong decision-making, planning, and organizational skills
