Position Overview

Position: Risk and Compliance Officer

Duty Station: UMU Main Campus, Nkuzi, Mpigi District

Reports to: The Vice Chancellor

Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

The Risk and Compliance Officer will be responsible for:

• Developing and maintaining risk registers and compliance matrices
• Monitoring and evaluating the university's risk management framework
• Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies
• Producing analytical reports on institutional risks and compliance status
• Supporting the implementation of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworks

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Accounting and Finance, Business Administration and Management, Law, or any other relevant discipline from a recognized institution
• Professional certification in one of the following:
  • Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP)
  • Financial Risk Manager (FRM)
  • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
• Minimum of 3 years of working experience in risk management, compliance, audit, or governance

Preferred Experience

• Experience in higher education institutions or regulated sectors

Technical Competencies

• Strong understanding of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworks
• Comprehensive knowledge of compliance and regulatory environments
• Proficiency in internal control systems
• Ability to develop and maintain risk registers and compliance matrices
• Strong analytical and reporting skills
