Purpose of the Role

To ensure that Nisir's overall operations align with the institution's policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations. This includes ensuring the adequacy of the risk management, internal control, and governance systems of the company.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of a risk-based internal audit strategy and annual plan for the company
• Champion best practices in governance and objectively assess the adequacy of governance systems and management of risks
• Follow up on timely preparation and submission of audit reports
• Facilitate the work of External Auditors and closely monitor the timely completion of their reports
• Provide company management with independent analysis on the adequacy and effectiveness of current internal controls, the reliability and integrity of financial information and systems, and their compliance with company policies and procedures
• Follow up on the timely submission of special investigation reports to NBE and other regulatory bodies
• Identify instances of over and under-control and provide management with clear articulation of residual risks where existing controls are inadequate
• Keep abreast of legislative issues, new audit regulations, trends, and appropriate audit direction and methodology
• Discuss updates of new regulations with executive management
• Review the adequacy of key corporate arrangements including risk strategy, risk register, anti-fraud and corruption strategy, and corporate policies
