Senior Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Senior Accountant to join our growing finance team at Garad PLC in Addis Ababa. This role is responsible for overseeing the company's accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting strategic financial decision-making. The Senior Accountant will manage complex accounting tasks, supervise junior team members, and ensure compliance with all financial regulations and tax requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of the company
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff
• Prepare and analyse financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Perform complex reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Coordinate and lead internal and external audits
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Review and approve financial transactions and journal entries
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management
• Participate in the development and improvement of accounting policies and procedures
• Keep up-to-date with changes in financial regulations and ensure compliance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial projects and initiatives
