About the Organization
Ethiopian Diabetes Association (EDA) works in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) and partners to advance diabetes prevention, education, care, and treatment services, while promoting equitable access to essential medications, supplies, and technologies.
Project Overview
EDA has secured a four-year grant from the World Diabetes Foundation to implement the project titled "Increasing Accessibility of Integrated Diabetes and Hypertension Services in Ethiopia." This project will be implemented across 100 primary hospitals, 300 health centres, and 1,500 health posts in all regions and city administrations of Ethiopia.
The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with Ethiopian Diabetes Association, is conducting an integrated diabetes and hypertension prevention and control project in twelve regions and two city administrations. The project includes diabetes and hypertension prevention through screening, treatment, care, and health education at point of care, focusing on service uptake and treatment adherence, as well as awareness campaigns at community and school levels.
Position Summary
The Senior Project Coordinator will be seconded to the Ministry of Health to lead day-to-day coordination, alignment, and implementation of project activities in close collaboration with national and sub-national stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
The role focuses on ensuring that project interventions are:
- Fully aligned with national NCD strategies and priorities
- Effectively coordinated across MOH departments, Regional Health Bureaus (RHBs), and partners
- Successfully implemented to strengthen decentralized diabetes and hypertension services
