Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Semi-Skilled Pipe Fitter to join our team. In this role, you will manufacture, install, repair, alter, maintain, and service fire water suppression systems. You will also perform fault-finding, testing, and commissioning work on these critical safety systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Select appropriate pipe types and sizes according to job specifications
• Plan installation sequences to avoid obstructions and conflicts with other construction activities
• Cut pipe using saws, torches, and pipe machines
• Thread pipe using threading machines
• Perform fire sealing operations
• Assemble and install metal and non-metal pipes and fittings (brass, copper, lead, carbon, stainless steel, and plastic)
• Secure pipes to structures using clamps, brackets, and hangers with hand or power tools
• Join pipes through threading, soldering, and prepare pipes for welding
• Work at heights safely and confidently
• Read blueprints and follow technical instructions
• Apply logical, step-by-step procedures in all work
• Plan work efficiently and solve problems independently
• Test and commission completed systems
• Maintain knowledge of all tools required for the pipe discipline

Requirements

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record for daily company vehicle operation
• South African Citizen
• Residing in the Western Cape
• Clear criminal record
• Sober habits (random drug testing will be performed throughout employment)
• Physically fit to perform the job
• Ability to work at heights
• Willing and able to work overtime, shifts, and away from home when project requirements dictate
• Own transport to commute to work
• Matric or equivalent qualification (highly advantageous)
