About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Chemistry Lab Technician to join our team at Chem-Science Laboratories in Umbilo. This position is ideal for a recent graduate or an early-career professional looking to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and non-routine chemical analyses
• Prepare, standardize, and maintain chemical reagents, solutions, and laboratory equipment
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative testing
• Ensure accurate recording of test results and maintain laboratory documentation in compliance with regulatory and quality standards
• Follow laboratory safety protocols, including proper handling and disposal of chemicals
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Chemistry from a recognized local university
• Practical analytical experience
• Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and chemical handling procedures

Preferred Attributes

• Recent graduate or 1–3 years of relevant laboratory experience
• Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO standards)
• Current residence in Durban or immediate surrounds
• Own transport
