## Title: Bookkeeping Clerk

About the Role

Russell Becker Inc is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Bookkeeping Clerk to join our team in Pietermaritzburg. This position requires strong administration skills, proficiency in bookkeeping practices, and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, journals, and trial balances
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, including supplier and customer reconciliations
  • Process payroll (leave) and ensure compliance with SARS, UIF, and PAYE regulations
  • Manage VAT, EMP201, and other statutory submissions
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls
  • Maintain accurate records for trust accounts (if applicable), in line with LPC or industry-specific regulations
  • Ensure compliance with POPIA, Companies Act, and other relevant legislation
  • Prepare and process payovers, ensuring accuracy, timely execution, and compliance with relevant financial and regulatory requirements
  • Attend to related queries or follow-ups as needed

Requirements

  • Proficiency in bookkeeping practices
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (assessment required)
  • Strong administration skills with ability to drive daily processes
  • Knowledge of SARS, UIF, and PAYE compliance
  • Familiarity with VAT and statutory submissions
  • Understanding of POPIA, Companies Act, and relevant legislation
  • Reside in Pietermaritzburg
